There's definitely been some challenges especially community violence

I basically lived in Boston my whole life
I don't really live in Boston no more
We moved to a smaller town because of even better schools
My grandfather came from DR and my grandmother came from PR
It always hooks me back in
I really felt supported by my whole community then
Most of the people at my school were Dominican which I'm also Dominican
I think it's been kind of hard making friends in the adult world
I felt supported during that time
We kind of went through it together and nobody was really alone
I felt like every time there was a creak or something happened
I felt supported by a community in Boston
I wish there was more financial support in Boston
I feel like I have to constantly be on guard wherever I go
I would worry about my surroundings and be cautious about who comes up to me
I eventually want to buy a house and stuff because I've never had that growing up
It's just always constantly on my mind
I definitely think a lot about finances especially with my kids
I can't buy a house in Roxbury or Dorchester anytime soon
It can create some type of discrimination for folks who are from the community

Eventually we all have to make space for each other
more opportunities for young adults

Having a career fair just so we could have more of a network session
I feel like we don't really know what the real world is like
I feel like it's really expensive living in Boston right now
It gets me to where I got to go
A lot of the times it was the teachers were from Minnesota
Just workshops that help understand things that school doesn't teach you
Healthcare benefits should go down so homeless people can access help
A roof over everybody's head comfortably
It is a very scary thing because it sometimes can feel like you can't win either way
it's definitely hard to be part of the community
my street is not ghetto but the next is very bad
It doesn't change the love that I have for my city
just being a community and all living there
I felt supported during that time
it was very heartwarming that everybody came together and everybody had signs
I've had some great memories growing up in dorchester and roxbury
I worry about careers and it just makes me kind of depressed
do you guys not have doctors
I think a lot of people want to be here but its just too expensive

I would be cautious about who comes up to me
It really grew on me and yeah it's been good
I love Boston
I realized that a lot of their nonprofits were geared towards mostly recovery
My family was the very first non-white family to move to Charlestown
We found a community it was in Guatemala you only get to see Guatemalans
A group of people of color is not as diverse
I really loved that I was able to get my education
The support for us as young people was at an all-time high
They called it the middle of the ground child
I sat in a couple listening sessions for a piece of legislation
My small growing community stepped in and friends welcome me to their homes
If I didn't have a medical insurance coverage how much I would pay
Cost of living more so related to housing is definitely a worry

People who have lived here their whole life cannot afford to retire
Getting from one end of Boston to another is like crossing the state

I think I am so inspired every day by the youth movements
We can create change small in our spaces and Chica can be one
I think it s a town
Even with section 8 things get really tight
So that felt really good and welcoming

Traffic stress feels like navigating an entire state every day
I got married, so I moved to Boston
It has really been beautiful here
Somebody walked up to me and asked, “can I help you find your way?”
The Massachusetts marriage bonus stood out the most for me
I feel that is something that would really help a lot of families here
I feel everywhere is looking like an urban area to me
If they could make it more accessible
Healthcare access in the city has become very difficult including mental health services
I've actually seen instances where a public bus had to use their ramps
I think people that are earning bracket of around a hundred thousand
I think Boston in the next 10 years is going to be developed
People pour out their mind when they say things without fear
I don't feel like I'm better off than anybody
I really felt love by a stranger that didn't know me
maybe a center where it could be accessible and I don t know
I think everyone would move into suburb areas the more and develop everywhere I
I love the public transit system that's my favorite thing
I fell in love with a lot of organizations that work there
The community of nonprofits up there is very strong
I just appreciated the kindness and the support that was provided to me
Boston was the most appealing one of their transit system
The city has really grew on me profoundly
The resources Boston provide is reassuring and it makes me feel safe
I love the green area here
They just want to dance all night long

I was really struggling my first two years living in Boston
I worry about unintentional or maybe intentional segregation happening in some sense
Making more community voice around it and having forums
Economic opportunity social opportunity health opportunity
Having a little bit more of that in spaces that we don't often see it
Showing history of people of color and all the great work
Educational opportunities people would be able to attend university
I feel like folks there are in their own bubble at times
I want my kids to go to the Boston Public Schools
How do we create communities where there are no food deserts
Boston knows this but how do we keep people here
how do we keep people here
I would love the city of Boston to take advantage of their beautiful spaces
I think duplicating the model as much as possible so all kids can achieve that confidence
Our kids are not going to the best institutions in the world
I've heard the gap in the different institutions in Boston
Having the music that you like at a festival
I'm going to hang out in Cambridge because I know that's where I'm welcomed
So I feel like this conversation served as providing me the space to think
I want to see the city that I want I also need to live it
The city has really grew on me profoundly
They just want to dance. They want to dance all night long

I feel like there's so much great potential and great things happening in boston
I feel like we could do better about showing history of people of color
I definitely would love for Boston to feel very warm and inviting
The cost of living is super high but also causes a disparity
Building a stronger school system with resources for our kids
I want to hang out in Cambridge because I know that's where I'm welcomed
