Tagged Highlights if the children were really centered everything else would fall in line But they may not actually have firsthand knowledge about how blind people live You have to be the captain of the ship It's an ongoing process and you just have to not lose hope I feel that is something that would really help a lot of families here If they could make it more accessible I'm here now fighting for my son because she lost custody of him They want to get in their feelings and be like that's corny there should be many locations promoting this opportunity in these different parts of the neighborhood I get better leeway talking to a brick wall about bostons struggles My family that believes that you need to give back to your community I also went through a period of time where I was homeless I feel like a lot of it is only there if you are I might've walked past him People who might need to start over or just need to find a community People punching each other on the benches and stuff I feel sidewalks are very important for safety Going to a new place and not knowing exactly where the entrance may be I always was able to figure out how to get some kind of resource There's a lot of cold people in that industry I feel like there's not a lot of support for Black people Give us the information that is making you successful We are metalheads we are punks we are rockers we are everything I love Cambridge I feel welcome in Cambridge Somerville It is like you're looking at a lake floating a hundred dollars bills The blackness isn't necessarily a monolith either There's just more stuff that I'm interested in here I don't feel super supported when I am in a space that is around a campus This is how you can take 20 percent of that money to keep I wish I would've had so much longer ago Rent control is one thing to keep the extended community Places that would pay you a living wage also drain you A lot of racial and racially tensioned experiences either that I've gone through Getting there to the progress is going to be the tricky road The pay is just not enough to sustain a comfortable living Making people feel uncomfortable with not knowing everything We seem to still be segregated and we're not being able to meet I lived on the Orange Line when it shut down the first time A lot of people are being left out of the information gap I hit too many roadblocks because I don't know what questions to ask The gap between the policymakers and the people is significant There's not a lot of minority students It's pretty white across the board If it's broken fire but you got all these emergencies I don't have the same immediate access to information being visually impaired They basically advocated their way out of paying given that there was not the right setup You wouldn't have to guess can I get into There's not sufficient home health aides for senior citizens people need to understand the actual facts about it I think they could have did a better job at communicating It's heartbreaking I hate seeing it If those parents didn't know about those resources you're already a step behind Everyone has become selfish that it's like I don't owe my community anything Those communities that are under looked need help and support A lot of negligence when it comes to supporting communities lacking mental health My relationship with Boston is really interesting because I know small shortcuts Keeping people from disadvantaged backgrounds in charge of the city I think it's interesting to think about when we feel supported Dreaming about what Boston can be feels closer when you're talking with artists I've heard the gap in the different institutions in Boston there's so many schools in the city but they hardly partner with each other His disability and his inability to function within a general ed setting Connect parents with more engage the school more I'm struggling because the margin of how low income and poverty fluctuates I just threw out a general number and they were like okay cool There is no at all push for you to collaborate with people The resources Boston provide is reassuring and it makes me feel safe A staff member from Family Nurturing Center approached me and changed everything I never had that and I can't recall in any instance I went there by myself and I was like itll be just a good opportunity to network
