Tagged Highlights I mean in the city I live people are progressive and stuff I don't really live in Boston no more We moved to a smaller town because of even better schools A lot of the times it was the teachers were from Minnesota I want my kids to go to the Boston Public Schools Our kids are not going to the best institutions in the world Educational opportunities people would be able to attend university Boston knows this but how do we keep people here Cost of living more so related to housing is definitely a worry I basically lived in Boston my whole life they would stop making us hide under our desk A lot of adults don't take charge of the spaces that they are running They want to get in their feelings and be like that's corny I just feel like DCF should have had the resources that I needed Teachers are not teaching and they don't want to teach A school that has a lot of resources for students When I was in school we had about 1100 kids It's good to have those transition notes to see what student A is about Am I really teaching or I'm just being a disciplinarian I wasn't able to make the impact that I wanted to A lot of these schools are falling and breaking apart Fend for yourself let's see if you can do it A time I felt supported would have been when I worked at Mission Hill School You get this sense of growth whenever you're doing something new Culture and diversity is number one key I've seen change that sometimes had the goal of making things better Not every kid is meant to go to college I've been able to find my tribe and outside help It's got to be developing the whole student for the real world Everybody should be reading the same books Too many chiefs and not enough Indians Changing what someone is already doing that's working just for the sake I will be simultaneously taking a class that is telling me As a black woman I've always believed in doing that It feels like there's a push for conformity The lack of accountability for kids actions does not prepare students I think the families are fantastic I just really want to see more of us take to this We always had during the moment we was definitely complaining about dumb shit arts and culture are prioritized differently It was my elementary school years occurred at a very traumatic time he missed a day because the bus never came I appreciate being able to bring him to the museum More of a bike and public transit accessible city Everyone comes from around the globe What brought me to Boston itself was The Loop Labs opportunity If those parents didn't know about those resources you're already a step behind Hey I'm just checking in to see if everything's good in this class There are no consequences for cutting classes the latest technology would have an inclusion model He listened and we didn't departmentalize You'll either be in jail the cemetery Every school should have that accessibility for every student’s talent I want to see more Black and brown educators We do have actual good resources here Everyone getting poured into properly because I feel like we have the resources I can rely on her and anything that she did That kid shouldn't be back the next day I don’t know how that stuff is going to move with me The classrooms are so small especially in these buildings from 1919 You can't forget about the rest of us It really is gaslighting because they make you feel so shitty I know my future is set because of the resources that the exam schools have The presenter needs to be somebody who the audience feels connected towards I was a horrible teacher in my first three years of teaching The low expectation that they have for children of color We have sixth graders now who literally cannot read like CVC words like cat There are different types of children who learn differently Just something that I carry to this day is the importance of understanding The kids who are getting screwed are your special ed kids His disability and his inability to function within a general ed setting They realized after COVID that none of the third-graders could read BPS has this idea that teachers are expendable You have to be realistic with kids with special needs Connect parents with more engage the school more I feel alone a lot and I want to de-stress all the time Lets not forget about those kids with special needs We basically have a classroom of 22 kids on an IEP I can see a building with all types of learners in it I'm so committed to teaching black and brown children The size of this class affects my organizational skills and compromises my ability There's huge inequity among schools for both students and for adults A lot of the times it doesn't work
