Circus Up uses circus arts to overcome social barriers and build community with students of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Based in Boston, Circus Up is part of an international "social circus" movement that uses circus arts and skills to create stronger, kinder, and more resilient communities.
Why? Circus can be a radically inclusive art form, and participation should not be limited by physical, financial, or other barriers.
In the short-term, Circus Up ensures that students increase their confidence, improve their ability to focus, build collaboration and teamwork skills, deepen their understanding of self in the context of community, develop physical literacy, and cultivate joy.
In the long-term, students develop strong physical literacy, gain a deep sense of empathy, belonging, and connection, build a resilient approach to learning new things, strengthen leadership and community-building skills, and understand their ability to make an impact on their community.
